The purpose of creating of mobile app for IPAB is that the IPAB as being sole tribunal in India has many back processes to manage in its registry, so to provide tribunal daily updates including hearings schedule, organizing files records, supply copies of the order through seamless information system online to the litigants spread all over India.
Some of the greatest benefits of virtual tribunals using mobile App is basically to supplement the cost savings and hours of service availability. Traditionally, tribunals are open to the public only on business days. This is, however, restrictive in that many litigants who need to access the tribunals also work on business days. Virtual tribunals can eliminate this barrier not only by allowing 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week access to electronic filing and other case processing online, but litigants will also be able to participate in trials by video conference. No longer will litigants be forced to leave work to attend tribunals as they will access proceedings from their home or office.
Thus, virtual tribunals would save on overheads and costs associated with operating tribunals facilities, thus improving access to justice, that by utilising mobile app technology, tribunals may further reduced the need for people to access the tribunals physically. Further this mobile app technology improves, tribunals are beginning to use it for postponements in judicial matters in order to reduce the costs.
