About this app

Chat comfortably. Everywhere.

REQUIRES A QUASSEL CORE – DOES NOT WORK AS STANDALONE IRC CLIENT

Use IRC on the go – thanks to the Quassel core, you’ll never miss anything
Always have your entire chat history available – just scroll up to load older messages, the core keeps them for you
Be notified when someone messages you – even if you had no connection in the meantime

If you are looking for the comfort you’re used to from modern chat apps, Quasseldroid is the best free android IRC client for you — you’ll get profile pictures, a beautiful UI based on Material Design, and all the features you love.

And best of all, it’s fully free and open source.

Requirements:

You need to have an account on a Quassel core to use this app. If you have none, you can either set a core up yourself, or check if you can get an account on someone else’s core.

This app only works with cores that run at least Quassel v0.10, for all features to be available you’ll need Quassel v0.13

To learn about how to set up a quassel core, see the wiki

Says "disconnected". Just can't connect to the core. Works perfectly on the desktop client but don't know what's the problem with android client. Can't find any help whatsoever either. Please fix this! UPDATE: Was a mistake on my side, wrong hostname :) Although some kind of alert from the app could have been useful to quickly identify this. Anyway, works perfectly now!

Quassel is great on the desktop, both the server (core) and the client have been my favorites for years now. So happy to see the Android version and I like it very much. It works smoothly, nice UI, and overall a great experience; possibly one of the best IRC clients for Android.

Wonderfully implemented Android client for IRC. Very kind on your battery usage compared to other IRC clients. Requires you to install QuasselCore on a "server" (could be your desktop at home), which replaces the need for an IRC "bouncer", as it serves the same purpose (keeping you always connected to your IRC servers as well as persisting 'scrollback' so that you can 'catch up' to what you've missed in your favorite channels. Highly recommended! And a great development team.
