Belter are an immensely hard-working and ambitious new band from Glasgow, who in a very short space of time have gone from strength to strength, bringing their hard hitting and energetic sound to a scene in dire need of regeneration.
Their songs are a breath of fresh air, back-to-basics rock and roll but brilliantly composed and additively catchy. On their new recordings, frontman Joe Scott showcases a powerful and distinctive singing voice that clutches the melody of each track with a raw passion, while all band members produce propulsive and refreshingly live-sounding performances to accurately capture the spirit and energy of the onstage Belter experience. The band formed formed from a core of three musicians: vocalist and guitarist Joe Scott, guitarist Gary Salmon and bass player Franko Casey. After much searching they eventually discovered a drummer with the necessary skill, dedication and ambition. Niall Murphy, previously of rock outfit No Signal, instantly added the vital chemistry and technical grit to bolster the already formidable force of their music.
Although Belter is still in its early stages, its core members have been close friends for many years, always sharing a love for music and collaborating in various projects when the opportunities arose, including critically acclaimed rock bands like Solution, Roamer and Sinking Cities.
Their dedication to music and conscientious approach has in the past also seen them doing work for their local community, sharing their knowledge of music and their instrumental ability with young people in workshops throughout Glasgow.
Belter are relentless in their pursuit of success and are determined to be at the forefront of the music scene in the UK. They are currently working on their first release and are planning to tour around Scotland and the UK in the very near future. This is a band to keep an eye out for and we can look forward to seeing much more from them in future. Watch this space.
