I was able to fix my original issue by unlinking my Google account and then linking it back up to allow me to change my password and log into the app. However, there is NO access to the books through this app. I still believe there's no need for the family app as it should be able to do everything through the regular justalk app. Maybe merge the 2 apps together.

Honestly it's a bit clunky for getting set up with premium and family accounts. like I purchased premium family but took a significant amount of time adding kids to the premium. also cannot log back into the kids accounts. but even though I purchased premium it still shows the options to pay monthly or yearly, which it shouldn't do. the support for the app isn't super great. otherwise it seems to work just fine for video calls, esp the kid friendly features except books.

Not intuitive to set up, nearly gave up, as it wasn't obvious how to set up the family chat and add new members, which is possible for free, but the premium option was pushed so hard in set up I thought it was a pay only option, it's not. Now its up and running seems to be working fine.
