I've never had an issue purchasing tickets through the app with Google Pay. The app is mostly intuitive but is not clear about which tickets are most appropriate if you want to travel on a lesser-known route. Big negatives are: tickets are non-refundable (even if bought mistakenly), singles must be used within 3 days (including the day you bought it - so it's NOT 72 hours from purchase), and if you activate the ticket and the bus doesn't stop for you it'll timeout without refund after 30 min.

Like others are saying, there seems to be a problem with the app accepting payments. I've tried mine and my partners card and keep getting an error. I always purchased a weekly pass, but that isn't going through. Here I am again now trying to buy a weekly one ready for tomorrow, but I've given up after 4 attempts. Update: After 35 mins holding on the phone to customer services, I found out its an issue with Natwest, they can't authorise the payments. Could be months before it is fixed.

Every time you open the app, it will bring up this annoying dialogue about how to scan your ticket when you enter the bus. It's so frustrating, any time I need to quickly find my ticket I have to skip through this dialogue, which also opens with an annoying animation, so it takes even longer to get to the ticket. I mean, ticket scanning has been a thing for almost a year, and it's not like the driver will let you on board without scanning. At least add an option to hide it!
