Nice graphics My favourite chess app on android. Lots of features. Developer keeps making improvements. :-)
It takes a while getting used to, but after a while the app feels great for serious practice and annotation. There was a bug (I could not consistently re-produce) I think the bug is in the "touch' event handler as I could not imagine such basic bug to exist in the 'move annotator' library. The bug was that, it inserted a move ( in my case, g4) which is impossible in the current position. I somehow touch that square, and the move got listed into the move list. There was another instance, wherein I (white's turn) could not move, and then the engine (bikjump1.8) was move's turn twice!! Black got to move twice in order to continue... i did not know how it happened. This app's intention and theme is excellent for the serious chess player as I can see it allows me to chronicle my games and track my chess games. But the user interface usability is a little non-intuitive such as play-against the engine, it is not obvious wither i play white or black , but i got used to it eventually.. And also, the "view, edit, guess" modes are weird menu choices I don't know why this need? I later found out that "view" mode allows you to continue and annotate your games.."edit" mode is for adding a game
Just amazing! This is my favorite PGN app, it has a lot of features.
Excellent! I must apologize shamefully! My review posted was for CHESS PGN (Still had no response!) and not your app! Sorry for misunderstanding. Your app is great! Please add acceptance of variations - Chess 960
It's ok as long as you don't have any variations in ypur pgn. If you do, moving forward skips to the first one shown rather than moving forward in the actual game. That was my initial review, which is not entirely correct. If you uncheck 'follow the text order' in preferences (Why is this checked by default?), you can modify this behavior. I also had trouble in getting the app not to autoplay, which I find very annoying. I think most people would actually like to look at the move rather than having it move on every 3 seconds. Blitz level is not going to help much when analyzing, and it is non-intuitive trying to get autoplay turned off. At minimum there should be a 'stop' button. The interface also isn't nearly as nice as shown in the pictures.
Bug during Fischer Random variant After a queen side castling, 3 rooks appeared on the board close to the king instead of 1. After the next move the fake rooks disappeared and the game continued normally (On a Fischer random game). There is a scope for improvement in many other areas too (Minor problems). If required, I can send those suggestions via e-mail.
* preliminary support for reading chess960 games
