One unique feature of the application is to provide the math used in the calculation of your dose.
Every time you use the application, it saves the calculated value to a log. The log will display the last 100 entries, providing you with a basic overview of your glucose levels throughout the day.
I wrote this application for my son, who has type-1 diabetes. If you find it of value, please feel free to use it. I welcome user feedback for future enhancements and revisions.
If you like this application, please rate it, and give me some feedback, so I can improve it.
Diabetics on insulin need to count their carbohydrate intake, which can be difficult! The Gluci-Chek app calculates the carbohydrates content of over 220 simple and more elaborate dishes.
The food database also includes photos of servings to precisely evaluate the carbohydrate count.
Customise the food database by adding your own data, view recipes or information sheets online, or discover the nutritional value of a particular dish. These are just some of the features that will make Gluci-Chek your daily nutrition assistant.
This app also allows you to quickly enter events including hypoglycaemia, stress, a sports activity etc. Once entered, they are registered in a calendar and you can also access an event summary for optimum interpretation.
It works by entering the amount you will eat of a chosen food (in grams), together with a carbs-per-unit value (I:C ratio).
Foods can be added and always saved together with the carbs-per-unit value for the next time you start the application. Three different presets of you I:C ratio can be saved as well.
* Calculating how much food you should eat, provided the carbs-per-unit value and how many units of insulin that you are going to take.
* Calculating a new carbs-per-unit value, provided the food you ate and the amount of insulin you took to get a good blood glucose value.
* Saving presets for carbs-per-unit value, for those who have a different ratio for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
This app is mainly focused to persons with type 1 insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus ("juvenile diabetes"), to help optimizing insulin dosage and get great blood glucose numbers; but it might work well for people with type 2 diabetes as well.
CalcCh2oLite is a calculator of units/servings of food carbohydrates.
!! Create your Own database !!
With CalcCh2o you can create your own database with the most common food you eat daily, of brands of products that you normally buy, making it easy to search for controlled food of your database.
Using UUP calculations are simplified, specially over food you need to check by portions. Calculations from weight are always available.
Highly recommended for people with type 1 diabetes mellitus.

New on v1.2.2:
+ configurable carbs exchange ratio: 10CH/15CH
+ expanded size of lists
Practical information v1.2:
- Carb exchanges: 1 Unit/Serving (u/s) is equivalent to 10g of carbohydrates
+ Predefined User Unit (UUP) can be specified, if desired, a default unit of measurement to facilitate your calculations. You only must indicate a weight, a quantity and a description then the calculator can help you, eg. you can define that 5 cookies weighs 30g. thus:
UUP weight = 30g.
UUP quantity = 5
UUP description = cookies
The application will quickly calculate how many units/servings (u/s) equals the multiples of 5 cookies:
1 cookie = 0.4 u/s
2 cookies = 0.8 u/s
3 cookies = 1.2 u/s
6 cookies = 2.4 u/s
+ Always consider the nutritional information of food, for more detail refer to the nutritional information for each food.
+ ¡¡¡ Be careful with your input data at foods, is the basis for calculations!!!
+ This application performs rounding in calculations:
. grams of carbohydrates for every 100g of food -> 2 decimal places in data entry
. rations (R) -> 1 decimal place
. weight (g) UUP -> 0 decimals in the input data, 1 decimal at calculator
. quantity UUP -> 0 decimals in the input data, 1 decimal at calculator
LITE version restrictions:
+ limit on check list.
+ limit at number of foods.
The values for the three fields, Glucose Goal, Correction Factor and Carbohydrate Factor should be obtained from your medical practitioner. They are considered constants and will not change very often. To enter or change values for the three fields, press the Edit button immediately below the fields, enter the values received from your medical practitioner and then press the Save button. If you have different Carbohydrate and Correction factors for different meals, enter the factor values in the appropriate tab(s). Each tab can contain different values. The values are stored in the application and will display the last saved value for each tab everytime the application is used.
Insulin units are calculated using the following formula:
X = (Pre-Meal Glucose - Glucose Goal) / Correction Factor
Y = Meal Carbohydrates / Carbohydrate Factor
Insulin Units = X + Y
The Insulin Units are rounded using the following method based upon hospital recommendations:
.00 to .24 --> Round down
.25 to .74 --> Round to .5 (1/2)
.75 to .99 --> Round up
For example, any calculated value between 2.25 and 2.7499 will round to 2.5, and any calculated value between 2.75 and 3.2499 will round to 3.
This application has been extensively tested and great care has been taken to verify the accuracy of the calculations. In addition to the testing, it also has been used to calculate insulin units for a diabetic family member. Even though it has been completely tested, Please verify the accuracy of the calculated insulin units before the first use of this application.
