I love KCRW. This app, not so much. This app is built for a mobile platform, yet it seems absolutely unable to deal with the effects of actual mobility. If the internet connection is changed or interrupted in the slightest, say, as you move from WiFi to cellular data, as you move through a cellular "dead spot" or even if you move from one WiFi access point to another, audio streaming stops, and often doesn't recover. You have to exit all the way out of the app, or even use Settings to Force Stop, or even reboot your phone to recover. Did the developers even use this app themselves? Unfortunately, the way KCRW seems to "do" mobile apps does not leave me much hope for a possible solution. If this app was procured like the previous KCRW Android App, it didn't include any ongoing maintenance, so we can't expect any bug fixes until they scrap it and come out with something new, written by somebody different, but with a whole new set of bugs. I hope I'm wrong, and there will be fixes soon. I say that as a KCRW member for most of the past 20 years.
needs work android version often shuts down. can't restart. exit is also clumsy with too many steps. THAT WAS BEFORE. have a new note 5 and Just tried to use app again. Now worse than b4. App is loaded seems to be functioning but no sound. FRUSTRATING! Im a decade long supporter of my Favorite radio station but this is totally disappointing. Is it that difficult to ensure the app is compatible with the latest Android version. On top of it all I have to purchase a radio app for 10$ a month just so I can get my KCRW fix. Not fair.
Great stream. Wonky app So I love the look of the app and how quickly I can access the stream, but there are some major issues. For one, transitions from WiFi to mobile signal fail every time. I have to completely close the app and restart it to get the stream to play properly. Great app for staying in one place, but terribly frustrating when I walk around. I'll still use this app. Hopefully they'll add a manual refresh if they can't get it do do it on its own.
Great station, nightmarishly horrible app 2015-07-13 This app is still fundamentally bad. A complete usability disaster. Whoever designed this is either clueless about how to make usable interfaces and user experiences or just didn't care. Also the app drops the audio stream oftenー much more often than other streaming audio apps. Overall it's an app that comes across as an afterthought, half-hearted. If you want something closer to actually being usable, try the SomaFM or KEXP apps.
Frustrating & useless This app has never worked right, from its first introduction to now. Constantly drops the stream. If I can't listen to the feed, I'd rather just switch to one of the many radio apps that will actually play their feed consistently and effortlessly. Can't understand why my favorite radio station can't figure this out, with all the loyalty and support that they otherwise receive. ..
Broken again App opens but won't play. Tried to send feedback and report a bug through the application, but it closes when you try to use those commands.
