Simple, functional, recommended [SGS4] A great little utility (only 9kb!) that delivers what it promises, nothing more, nothing less. I don't like Chrome & this is a simple URL shortcut widget that doesn't require a Chrome bookmark & lauches pages in your browser of choice. Found the URL Shortcut widget listed among device widgets, added it to home screen, pasted a URL. Done. Don't let the developer's immaturity keep you away from a great little app.
For Lisas who cant get it to work and gave this app 2 stars This is a wonderful app. Actually it doesn't work on holding the blank area, on some mobiles like mine. But it does work. Steps - 1> Go to Your Application Menu, (Where all the icons of your downloaded apps are present.) 2> Select the option for widgets. Or just keep scrolling until you find them. 3> Pick "Url Shortcut". Press your finger on it and drag it down to your home screen. 4> Fill the information and click ok. It works. Giving it 4.5 stars for missing this info from the description.
Good app. It works as intended. I probably enjoyed reading the description more than I will ever enjoy using the app, but I enjoy using the app as well. My only criticism is that the instructions in the description really should be a bit better organized to assist people like Lisa. On my S3, the app is accessed by going to Apps --> widgets --> URL shortcut, and dragging that widget back to the home screen.
I just love you. Really. I do. As a non reformed bookmark junkie, with a distaste for chrome, I have FINALLY found my true love! Oh URL shortcut, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways! Anyone who can read, (looking at you Lisa) can figure out the super simple principles of this indulgent app. Yes, like sweet & savory salted caramel, the perfect combination of brilliance & ease. Run with me now dear URL shortcut, into the hills & lie with me in the sun bathed Meadows of your simple perfection, where we will be together, forever!
Good stuff. But then I noticed that I can create shortcuts that still work after I delete them with the stock note 2 browser. So, not so useful there. Works great on my nook hd, though!
Trying to be fuuny? Remove the silliness in the description. And grow a thicker skin. And your URL shortcuts don't launch Chrome. Uninstalling now for not being responsible for the developer's negative attitude, and his ineffective app. Chrome comes with this app built-in, and it works, without the Chrome developers complaining in the description.
