Review from Tremayne Castel
Fantastic Rooted my phone and flashed an amazing ROM and downloaded Titanium and all my stuff was back to normal after a recovery. This app is a must for rooted phones.
Failed at install to gain root access. Help files don't seem to address the situation - they simply say to make certain the device is rooted. All I have is a warning that this app will not work. So now, after learning about rooting my Android device, I wonder what is it that prevents this program from being permissible by the phone manufacturer. It is a Google Nexus 6. Why is it not just allowed like many other apps? It seems like a few words describing why it needs this special permission would not be too much to put in the FAQ section.
I have at least 3 versions of this backed up but the latest version 7.6.1 freshly installed with Pro key and couldn't restore a user app or delete a system app on official CM 12.1. Checked the SU logs...nothing. Flashed v7.4 to system, same settings restored and works fine.
Essential, but proper multiuser support is now overdue I find that the inability to backup apps and data for other device users (also restricted users), by single click or schedule, is becoming a major shortcoming. I haven't found any other solution, but would expect this from TB Pro by now. The TB profiles feature is just too fiddly, and doesn't cut it. The UI is way out of date. Seriously!
U root? Then U Titanium! However, there are still some issues. It is very difficult to maintain a shared backup pool over multiple devices. There is no synchronization possible across devices. Also there is no way to externalize the backup to the cloud completely. You can only upload you local backups to the cloud, but this does not free up local space at all. Network saves are not supported at all. FTP, SMB, etc. are missing. Would be great if the backup process could be completely transferred into the cloud or network drives with
This is absolutely the first app u gotta have after rooting! With Dropbox Sync, I won't ever hav 2 worry abt losing my app list, settings & data after flashing diff ROMs. One minor annoyance: although I paid for the Pro version years ago, Google Play Store still shows me as only eligible for the free version. But this is not a problem, as I stored the multi-digit Pro key in the root directory and Ti was somehow able to find it.
This is a very useful application. If you ever need to factory reset your phone, this is a awesome tool. One future you can use, is to sync all your applications (data + .apk - files) at scheduled times. This can also be synced to an external location, for example: Google Drive, Sd-Card ... If anytime your phone is crashed or corrupt, you can use Titanium Backup to restore everything. Simply put! This application is awesome. But it takes some time to learn how the application works, and how to config it. New future! You can create a update.zip file, in this way. If you need to reinstall the phone at any time, the only thing you need to do is to restore through this file. In this way you get your desktop layout (GUI) and all the installed apps in one move.
