Scum Marketing Tactics. Kinsa Inc, no I did not "go to your website in advance of buying the Smart Stick to see if compatible." I, like most people assumed if your product was only compatible with a handful of devices that you would advertise it as a product for those devices. I have four different android/apple devices... None are compatible. Don't bother with their product or app. If you look at their list of compatibility you will see that half the phones listed are only compatible if you are running old software. This is a clear sign that the company does not attempt to update the app for current users. Buy now and in 6 months it probably won't work.
Brought this thermometer all the way home just to find out it doesn't work with Galaxy S8. Very annoyed since I'm dealing with a sick toddler and my other thermometer quit working. Back to Target I go, sadly.
Little upset. I got my kinda because I was able to apply my kids school for the fluency program 2 years ago. Now I can't use my smart stick because with my old phone it wasn't a compatible device now I have the a Samsung and it's also not compatible. I shouldn't have to keep my iPhone just for this. So now I'm not. Most everyone else can do updates to have all devices compatible unless they can upgrade to a certain OS update. Sad. Also I have looked at your com to other users kinda and actually it is your fault, get a developer to work on your app or upgrade your thermometer, they replace it to people who wasted money on it and couldn't get there money back, thermometers aren't the cheapest thing in the world and some don't have the money to waste on something that doesn't work. I know I don't. Don't give me it's the devices issue. I know a little about coding and developing, how do you think every other app can work with our devices. You just don't care. So it's either the apps problem or the thermometers issue not our phones especially newer ones.
** UPDATE: AFTER KINSA RESPONSE: unfortunately I did not read other reviews before buying, who reads app reviews when sick, buying a thermometer on Amazon? I agree, scum marketing tactics at best. When the product doesn't work with most of the latest Flagship models of the most popular mobile devices, that should be disclosed in the first line of the sales literature not buried down below. These people have the audacity to drop-in "you should have bought our better product" into the response. Any company that actually cared would have offered to send me a product that worked at no charge in the hopes that I would rewrite a better review. Instead I am forced to further push the obvious statement that this company is far less than up front and I suppose making money on the fact that a percentage of people don't return them. Of course now besides returning it I will write the worst reviews on Amazon I can possibly give. I've only made reviews of things a few times and so far mainly positive. I'm pretty sick, and this "care company" response was to kick me in the nuts to try to make themselves look better by blaming others. Not a single one of their responses takes any responsibility. State in your advertising that there are very few devices it works with and do it right up front in the first line or tell people right up front what devices it works with don't send people to some website burried in the copy. For that matter, there's no reason that the thing can't work as a thermometer even if it doesn't connect. So this should be stated in big letters right at the top, does DOES NOT WORK WITHOUT APP CONNECTED!!! I wouldn't even have complained if I just got a thermometer that worked that's all I wanted in the first place. And of course before it did try to Bluetooth connect it mandated access to my entire phone database through permissions that were ridiculous for a thermometer, so I suppose they're also using our data for nefarious purposes. FOR SHAME KINSA! ORIGINAL REVIEW: I'm sick and I needed a thermometer. I didn't notice that this thing had to interact with my phone, and truthfully I don't mind. But I took the time to download the app and it won't Bluetooth pair with my brand new Droid Turbo 2. I got sweat running down my face all I needed was a thermometer, I don't mind one that interacts but one that interacts and doesn't allow it to be used as a thermometer unless it sets up is a piece of junk. Worse the help section sends you two pages of facts no way to contact anyone terrible company.
Sucks that it doesn't work with the galaxy s8. I bought it when I had the s7...Now I have it and can't even use it anymore.
Garbage, you had one job. That was to make an app that actually works for something other than stupid sheep iOS.
