Te Kete Ararau is an interactive learning resource for Oranga Tamariki staff to support their day to day mahi (work).
The app includes information on the Oranga Tamariki cultural framework, key Māori concepts and values, key events and effects on Māori, te reo Māori (language), tikanga (custom) and waiata (songs) to help staff understand more about our unique and shared cultural heritage and further express our Oranga Tamariki vision, purpose and values.
Interactive features within the app include pronunciation of Māori words, maps with Māori names and iwi groups, values (Ngā Mātāpono), and principles, mihimihi/pepeha (introductions), ngā mihi (greetings), poroporoaki (farewells), whakataukī (proverbs), and waiata (songs).
A key feature allows staff to input their own personal information to create a customised pepeha.
