Review from Jed Fonner
Works after update, still not intuitive After some initial troubles with an earlier version, the latest version lets me connect and do a backup. It's not terribly intuitive. In order to backup to my PC, I have to load the Carbon Server URL in my browser and download a zip. It seems there's still something buggy about the Carbon app for Mac and my Nexus 4, since I assumed that the Mac app would allow me to do something, but it just sits there with no options.
Not just a pretty face for ADB anymore. If you don't want to root just to transfer settings of one or more apps (/data) from one device to another (or backup/restore without rooting), this is the app for you. Unfortunately, since Google has a funny idea of what we should be allowed to back up, it does require a PC connected to one or both devices to restore. Note: If transferring between devices and the source device is rooted, it won't need to be connected to the PC since this app comes equipped with a file server.
Does not work on LG G4 Works well on my other phone in terms of backup and restore but not on my LG G4. Does detect my Sd card and does not back up apps properly to a smaller sd card that works on the other phone. Really need this to work and even manual copying of backup folders does not work, as the device does not see them in the carbon folder.
Won't work with Android 6.0 Stock Nexus 6p Android 6.0. Tells me I need to put it in PTP mode (even though it already is), I have a green check mark on the desktop app, I click enable PTP, settings force close, app won't do any thing.
Did a full back up (saving to PC via USB) prior to doing a factory reset on my Moto G. Reinstalled Helium after the reset, tried to restore and sync my apps on my phone, but keep getting "An error occurred while retrieving your app list".
Really wanted this to work. But can't get my backup to run. I'm faced with "this error may be cause by having a Desktop Backup Password." I never set one, and even added one then changed it back to blank with no resolve. Tons of issues all over the forums with no resolve. I really expected more from this dev. :(
Never-ending dialogs Although this app does what it says & does it well, you need patience & an understanding of things if you're using Marshmallow. MM no longer allows root access for this app, so you need to connect via the desktop first. Worked great on Lollipop though =)
Fix issues activating on G4 and other phones
