Review from Mohammed Zatari
Buy the full If u really want to use the best of it , buy the full version so you can back up to the cloud. Amazing back up app without even rooting.
If you have not already installed this, grab it now. This is THE tool to have. Thank you for Helium. :-) I just backed up my most important apps with their data to Google Drive and restored them from GDrive to another, very different Android device in about 30 seconds. Worked perfectly. Doing the same manually would have taken hours! Helium is really great. :-)
Complex, partially worked. (Updated from 3 to 4.5 STARS, took 2 times of just importing text messages and clicking correct buttons to get messages restored...) Moving from LG on Android 6 to Moto 5g plus on Android 7. Android backup and restore wouldn't work so trying this to get text history... Got phone history over but no text. Had to manually move Carbon folder to SD card and then put in new phone for restore. I wish Google made this easy, props to the developer for giving this a go, between dev mode, PC app, debug cable, etc a complex solution. UPDATE: complex but eventually got my data over - THANK YOU, still don't understand why we need the computer since backup is stored to local storage.
Useless as a phone transfer app, marginal to moderate as a backup tool Does not support contacts, MMS or pictures & screenshot transfers and usually the most important apps are blocked (by respective app developers?) from being backed up. In my case on Android 6 also the SMS history transfer failed and caused crashes of Helium. Initial setup of drivers and authorizing Dev access from a Windows PC took several hours installing various ADB driver packs back & forth while the phones otherwise connected fine for image and file transfer. Better apps with these functions out there.
I don't get this app. How should the restore from internal storage work after I do factory reset?? I have backed up my phone onto internal storage. Then I copied the folder carbon with subfolders named after those app to my pc. After phone factory reset I put the folder back onto phone's memory and want to restore that. But the app does not see it! When I try to do a new backup it puts it into this folder! Backups I manually put there are not visible. This should be clearly described how it is meant to work.
I have to give helium a ONE star at this point. It used to work well going from my Note 4 to my Note 7 then from my Note 7 to my S7 edge. Unfortunately it does not work AT ALL on the S8 or S8+. I have both phones and helium will not even install an app to restore. It goes through the restore process, says the app and data installed, but it never does. The apps are not installed on that phones at all, they simply aren't there. This is the case with EVERY S8 or S8+ - helium does not work on these phones for anyone with these new phones. The developer needs to respond to emails and Twitter messages about this issue, we are paying customers who only want to use the app we paid for to migrate our apps and data to or S8 devices. CWM please respond and fix this issue then I will revert my rating to FIVE stars!
Took a long time to get my PC to sync with phone, but it works now. After requesting a refund for premium and then messing with it for another hour it worked and purchased premium again. Does exactly what it says and does it very well. Android lacks in complete backup compared to iOS. I had even forgot to manually backup a few apps but Helium restored the databases like they were never touched. Use a PCs admin user. Phone kept saying it was not in PTP until I switched to the main PC user.
