This rating is for trial version only After downloading source code, compiling, configuring, changing and correcting script, and make file for Ubuntu, I feel the trial version should be extended for those who have to do a lot more than simply download and install a dot-exe file. Works great, I'll be uninstalling at the end of the trial period. PDAnet+Tablet is available for Ubuntu which also offers WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity options.
Well, got it to connect after some fiddling on an LG Stylo 2 Plus connected to an MSI Apache Pro, Win10/Ubuntu-Linux... speeds seem really slow, but maybe a tiny bit better than when hotspot is at data-cap. Still wouldn't be able to do much online beyond what I can now as speed test is reading 0.05-0.10Mbps... not even close to 1Mbps. Not sure I'd recommend for all the hassle and just a tiny uptick in speed. (Even after sys reboot and phone reboot got a tiny bit better but still only 0.12-0.15Mbps.) PS - Not sure if it matters, but tether program on Windows after connected keeps saying "Checking phone status..." over and over again. PPS - Just noticed app says 6 days left on trial... I just installed it tonight and I thought description said 20 day trial!?!?!? >:(
Works very well on my Raspberry Pi 2 running Raspbian jessie/armv7l. The only thing I had to fix was to remove the ADB (ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386) binary in 'Tether/linux' and replace it by a symbolic link to the ADB executable that works on my ARM7l architecture-based machine. @koush: May I suggest to improve 'Tether/linux/run.sh', i.e. check if ADB is installed and found in the user's $PATH and if not so, suggest to install it (sudo apt -y install android-tools-adb) also hinting to adjust the $PATH variable if necessary (export PATH="...:/usr/bin:..."). Finally replace "../linux/adb start-server" in 'Tether/linux/run.sh' [currently line #38] just by "adb start-server". Keep up your excellent work - thank you!
EDITED REVIEW I'm buying the full version now!.. I have "real" unlimited 4G data and 8Gbs of tether, this works great when I go over my 8Gbs. I use it on my Windows 10 and Windows 7 machines. 100% works everytime...... EDITED REVIEW: Bought the app and now it doesn't work. Done everything on a technical level to get it to work and nothing. 1 STAR NOW
I updated my review. It's great, it works, however, it can be annoying. It hijacks your phone any time that it's plugged into the computer. So if you simply want to plug your phone into your laptop to charge, you can't without the app taking over. You can force stop the app in settings, but it will just reboot automatically.
Pretty good It's a pretty good tether app. I use it all the time. It allows me to get the full data speed out of my T mobile plan. It has one issue though, the app crashes upon opening google chrome on PC, so if you're gonna use that, you may expect it to stutter for a sec while it reopens tether on the phone.
