Makes learning easy for me I never review apps, but this app was so helpful that I felt like I had to rate it. This is the only tool I've used so far for learning hiragana without any prior knowledge of the Japanese language. After using it in my spare time this past week I can already recognise all the hiragana on sight and draw several of them.
Good app. This is a really good app for beginners. I paired this with Dr mokus (something like that, the icon is a weird guy with a yellow background) and I can recognize all the symbols. Use mokus to actually learn them and use this to test yourself. Just one problem. YOU HAVE DZI AND JI SWITCHED. well I'm pretty sure its that. Just go in and look at the area around them and you should find a mistake. Anyway good app just fix the thing and five stars
Its great This app is awesome if you have a basic understanding of hiragana. Some people are complaining about the fact that it doesn't teach you beforehand. There's this magical thing called triak and error, if you don't know it guess you biscuit. Once you find the answer remember it and you'll learn. Sometimes you have to find your answer through guessing and thats fine. I've been using this app for 2 days, 2 hours a day, and have mastered vowels "k", "n" and "y" and I'm improving drastically. Awesome app ♡♡
Best way to learn Asian written language ever Just hilarious. Really. I'm really regret that there was no such software for Chinese during my study at University. This complex 3-way learning (draw character, write transcription, chose correct character) is much more effective than just using a book or a traditional pen-and-paper style learning. I'm already familiar with Chinese so to say, and I've done with Hiraganga in just a week or so while on a bus or in line at cashier. And that is fast. Katakana on the way, and I'm sure there will be no problem with it, as the developer and the way to learn is the same. I hope you'll done some Chinese teaching App for, say, basic 500 glyphs. And make it cost for couple of dollars, it is really worth it. Totally recommend to all my friends. Good luck!
Excellent Love it! Quizes you by making you choose the hiragana that matches the sound from four "flash card" like characters. Then you have the option to type the romaji for the shown hiragana. Finally let's you practice drawing the hiragana, first starting with the character shown, then removing the lines but leaving the starting and ending points as a hint, then leaves only the starting points, and finally removes even that. Through somewhat forced practice you learn it and practice it until you get it right.
Very Impressive, but... It actually uses spaced learning, choosing items based on progress and errors. That coupled with well designed exercises and three learning methods (choose, write, and read) makes this a learning science marvel. It's well paced, grouping and limiting new material. Using different fonts is good for familiarity. However... There are inconsistencies, like the different symbols for "sa" between "choose" and "write." also, needs a way to "finish" items, restart exercises, and limit items in an exercise yourself.
-Corrected the hiragana "mo" and "ya", and replaced the "ki" and "sa" with the handwritten versions
