Review from Kyara Yarber
Error Uploading Picture Keep getting a notification about a picture not uploading. Bought a new phone, cleared cache, logged out & back in & reinstalled to no avail.
Previous review was for v5.65-1 on z3 compact. Previous version literally wouldn't allow me to add my account to the client. Uninstalled it. HOWEVER, latest version is OK (6.25). Still on z3 compact (marshmallow). I like the idea of custom columns. Don't think there's one for what's trending though (unlike Finch). Also, I get the idea of one click on tweets exposing all the actions for that tweet (whether it's clicking on a link, retweeting, etc). HOWEVER, on average it takes 3 clicks to just open a link, compared to, say, Finch. Not good UI design, when a key operation takes multiple clicks. Ads are noticeable but not awful (seem to be mini-banners at bottom of tweet feed). Perfectly usable. Settings seem to allow you to customise your user experience reasonably. Does NOT support mobile notifications (as far as I can see) I.e. you can't have tweet notifications for just a particular account that you follow. It's possible (I think I read) that only the official twitter client supports mobile notifications. Twitter client to watch out for is the rebuild of Carbon (my fave client until it was retired from Google Play a few months ago). Plume is decent though.
Lacking 'account activity' info... I've used this app for a long time and it rollercoasters along. Sometimes it's up and works as needed, sometimes it's down and does stuff like battery hogging background notifications even though turned off or resets the unread counter even though everything has been read. Little things. Still a lack of any account activity column, though, which is baffling nowadays. Another big no no is adding images to DMs makes the DM public - possibly due to image hosting on a public site? Needs fixing ASAP.
Good app ruined by battery hogging I'd recommend Plume if it wasn't for its battery hogging ways. I've been surprised by my Pixel XL battery longevity but recently became concerned at a 15% drop off. A quick bit of digging found Plume to be the culprit. There'll be a swift uninstall after posting this warning.
I keep getting a "too many blocks" notification. I can have the app open and be doing nothing and it pops up. I haven't blocked anyone in a long time and wasn't getting the message for a few months, but it's back with vengeance.
I really wanted to like this I can't get tweets from the accounts I marked for notifications. I'm notified if it has my handle, that's it. I want to talk to my friends in convos they start too.
Overall this app isn't bad but it has a few problems from what I notice. For one thing it doesn't have all features the Twitter app has such as being able to accept followers request or polls. It's very awkward with polls actually as it will still show the tweet but all the options in the polls don't exist. Plus lately this app been crashing on my phone however I'm thinking that my phone fault rather than the app as I'm running the app on a Samsung Galaxy S3. If plume fixes these problems it will be great though
