The “News & Moods” is a news service app with Lexxe’s flagship sentiment search technology. This app collects about 30,000 pieces of news from about 500 important and trusted sources around the world everyday. Each piece of news in the news reader’s main page is scored with a sentiment score, positive (2.5-5.0), negative (0.1-2.5) and neutral (2.5) based on texts, which is called “text sentiment score”. An aggregated score of scores of all text is shown too. Please note that 2.5 could be all these three sentiments, depending on the leaning expressed by the colours of the stars. The score is accompanied by a five-star system to represent it and the sentiment types in a visual/image format.
Users can also search news. But this time the sentiment score returned will be different from the ones in the news reader. In search results, the sentiment score is calculated through the keywords’ contexts to show both sentiment scores in each news article and an aggregated sentiment score of the keywords from all news articles (not sentiment of the texts as in the news reader’s main page). It is called “keyword sentiment score”.
