simultaniously the best and worst experience. story keeps me hooked and both old and new characters are developed and integrated into it, even though the other aspects (UI, some loading times, etc.) might not be the greatest. amazing graphics! fun to play, if a bit complicated to build characters. drop rates aren't too bad. 5/5 stars for characterization/story alone despite the complications. might not be for everyone, though!

After playing for a couple of weeks, I feel I have to edit my review to include the major flaw of this game, the very spotty translation. I get so lost in the story at times as it feels this wasn't properly quality checked for translation errors. Might be a small thing to some, but really a big flaw that I hope they address. Fantastic visuals and music, paired with a great battle system are the highlights.

After playing for a year, my opinion has changed dramatically. I still have some fun with it, and think that visually it's still one of the games on the market. But gameplay-wise, it's a case study on wasted potential. The guardian stone system seemed neat and with some work and consideration could have made the game's combat one of the most interesting and strategic on the market. Unfortunately, it was never expanded on, and we're left with another meta chase.
