About this game

A procedurally generated pixel-art wallpaper!

You will get randomly generated worlds with water, forests, hills, roads and various other features on your background.

The 8-bit/pixel-artsy tileset is made by "surt" on Open Game Art (opengameart.org), released under CC0.

8Bit live wallpaper started as a game for the Procedural Death Jam, but because of time pressure it became a wallpaper instead.

I like it a lot, but I'd like more options. For example: how often it generates a new map (every home screen press is too often for me), how often the guy appears, and a day/night tile choice. Overall, I'm very impressed, but I'll probably uninstall simply because it's too often for me. Keep up the good work, I look forward to the full release!

I really love this app. It is trully amazing. I would just suggest to add few more settings namely about the light effect - I would love it if it would change according to the day time. I would also love it not to change after entering and closing - not to randomise it every time. Also for those whom it goes in top corner - just restart the phone. It worked for me. I found that out by accident when my phone died without battery.

I've had this background for longer than I've had my current phone. Always fresh and interesting to look at. Instinct is to want more, new biomes, characters and buildings but since it's a background it's probably best it doesn't chew too much power. That said if I had the skills I'd probably make one like that.

What's new

Version 0.2 news!
* Adds "overlay" setting that dims the background a bit making it easier to read text on the screen and give a nice night mood.
* Adds setting to disable characters walking around.
* Adds setting to choose which biomes you want to see and not see.
* Adds a new character showing up on snow biomes.
* Fixes a bunch of settings not working as intended.

* Removes Android 2 support, sorry :(
