Edit: I got it to work. I open the game and at the bottom of the screen it says, “CheckGameVersion” along with some half loaded progress bar that doesn't move. It isn't my connection, I have storage space. Probably going to uninstall.

It wasn't bad (though it's still really rough in terms of the UX), but once I got served my first forced ad, I closed and uninstalled. I don't mind in-game monitization options, but forced ads are a deal breaker for me, and they should be for you as well.
