The hardware is great. The software (and the vendor's website and documentation) is awful. It's not OK that you have to create an account with the vendor (on the phone; if there's an option to do it on the website I couldn't find it) just in order to connect to the camera. Downloading stuff from the camera seems to be amazingly buggy; I got all the previews, but most of the photos downloaded were the wrong ones, not corresponding to the thumbnail (at least as displayed in the viewer; maybe the app had downloaded the right files but was just displaying the wrong ones) . There are some important missing features - I can't figure out a way to delete an image from the phone once downloaded, for instance, and there's no obvious way to move photos or video from the camera's internal storage to its SD card or vice versa. I needed the app to upgrade the firmware to get the hardware to work (and that worked OK once I figured out the dance of disconnecting from the camera's network to download the firmware and then reconnecting to upload it), but in its current state I can't imagine using it to transfer files. And live preview only works sporadically.
Can you make it to play next/previous while watching instead of press done and back and back...
Can't get equirectangular with this... Why?
With this app - There is no GearVR viewer. Please update app. ASAP Tony
Got my Lucidcam today as an Indigogo sponsor. This review is based on June 2017 Firmware and App, on a Samsung S8. The app seems to work very well. It connected to the LucidCam with no problems, and was able to control it. The settings work well, and the App can transfer videos to the phone for playback. However, I wasn't able to find any option to share the video to social media, and the .mp4 files don't seem to be stored in actual file format anywhere on the phone. So I had to pull them off the camera using USB, then load them on the phone to view in Gear VR. It would be great if the files were put into /download or /videos, or even better to a customizable directory, so that I could store them directly to /MilkVr , which is the standard directory for sideloading for viewing in the Samsung VR app on GearVR . GearVR users should definitely note that you can change the format for recording in the app from Fisheye to Equirectangular, which greatly reduces the distortion when viewed in Samsung VR's 180x180LR mode. In short, the camera and app "just worked" right out of the box. There are no bells nor whistles, but this is a very solid start for Lucid.
Awesome. Link to accessories would be awesomer 😁
