works well I've used SIMH on other platforms and this is a good port to the android. The notes should mention that networking is not compiled in. I had trouble opening the developer's website to read the online help. A nice feature to add would be to allow the system disk files for simulated machines to reside on the external sd card. Some of the operating systems are quite large. Overall I am satisfied and enjoy using it.
Hostage ware Having to pay for an app that requires you to pay for another app to use it is a SCAM. By the time you download/setup and configure anything, 15 minutes to try and test it has LONG passed. I've used SIMH before and thought it would be fun to try on android. This is just a plain ripoff and offensive to the SIMH community.
Simh review I installed Simh in good faith. It requested funds to give full functionality. I paid these in good faith. But it will not work under android 5.x due to no support for PIE library. I contacted the author with zero response. Whilst the PC version of Simh works fine, this version doesn't run under android 5.x. No support or response from the author. BEWARE.
Practical revival of cp/m Firstly to address the criticism of some of the other commentators regarding linked requirements that also need purchasing, such as the Better Terminal Emulator, yes, although this can be initially offputting the end result is definitely worth it. My principal interest was CP/M and I wasn't disappointed. I wanted to be able to do some minimal computing and this provided the idela platform. Some other emulators seem to be better geared to tablets as the font size on a phone makes them unworkable. Not so with this emulator, was able to get a good readable, workable screen format. I've got turbo pascal, mumath, dbase II and supercalc all working on my phone. I take note of one of the other reviewers complainign that BSD wouldn't load and I had the same problem but there are some unusual load steps for some of the images under SIMH so if relaly interested contacting the developer may yield a result,
So much potential, yet so much waste of space PIE error on Lollipop - utterly useless on Android v5 or above :-(
doesn't work on android 5.0. needs to be updated to replace non-PIE executables, which are no longer supported on android 5.0. will update review when fixed.
* Add Google TV Support.
Update to support displaying simulation name with Better Terminal Emulator v4.01. Added UNIXv1 in honor of Dennis M. Richie.
