Nagraj Popatrao Manjule is a National Award-winning Indian filmmaker known for his first short film Pistulya. Early life and background of Nagraj Manjule grew up in the Jeur in the Solapur district of Maharashtra .
He has pursued his M.A. in Marathi literature from University of Pune, followed by Masters in communication studies from New Arts, Science and Commerce College, Ahmednagar.
His first National Award winning short film Pistulya is a reflection of his 'felt experience', Thereafter he made his debut feature film, Fandry in 2014. Fandry literally means pig in the Kaikadi language.
He is also known for his book “Unhachya Kata Viruddha”. He faced lots of misconceptions as he grew up in society. It reflects in his films and poems. His film is been awarded by FIPRESCI INDIA of International Federation of Film Critics – India Chapter. And he is been appreciated by the Best Director award at Pune International Film Festival. He also got many other appreciative awards for his Movies.
