Great idea, needs work. As a side-project by a single-person, it's very impressive. However, constant bugs, reliability problems, and poor support prevent it from living up to its potential. I won't detail all the issues I've encountered, but the most important one is that it sometimes stops syncing for no reason. Seeing as that's the primary purpose of the app, it's kind of a deal-breaker. If you'd expect version 1.0 of an app to have all the basic functionality you need with minimal show-stopping bugs, I'd say this app is on like version 0.2 at best. I encourage the developer to keep improving his work, but don't expect anything like a perfect Pushbullet clone just yet.
Better than Pushbullet & MightyText. Why? Unlimited messages. And honestly it's just better overall and more reliable than both MightyText and Pushbullet. I've used both MightyText & PushBullet only to sadly have text-limitations (like 100-500 texts a month free) placed on me later. Thus far, Yappy-SMS works in a very similar fashion to MightyText, but it works a lot better with a better design in my opinion. Pushbullet wasn't bad but it required an add-on or extension for Chrome, which I didn't like. Overall, Yappy-SMS works the best out of all the SMS-to-Computer apps I've tried. The only issue that ever occurs with Yappy is that it sometimes does not update my texts or send texts immediately, but that is quickly fixed as soon as I activate "Yap Mode," which quickly syncs texts and allows me to send texts on time again. As long as they maintain the same standards for free with unlimited texting, it's the best "Texting from PC" app I've used thus far, and I highly recommend it.
Awesome Functionality but... I and I think many other people would love to see integration with more popular sms apps which are known to be better (Textra SMS PLEASE!) Also I've noticed this app is a huge battery hog and significantly decreases battery life. The desktop app, is nice but could use improvement in functionality and reliability , for example an emoji list button, and being able to click on images received to download or view full screen. Overall this developer seems to be on the right path to a great app.
I've been using this for a few days and really like it! Unlimited texts, emojis, good support documentation online, nice web interface, okay desktop app. I have had to upgrade the app once and reboot my phone twice in order to keep it working, but that seems minor. I am considering purchasing pro ($2/mo) just to support their team; I don't see any immediate need for the pro features. Overall, I'd strongly suggest that you give Yappy a try. If you're like me and got fed up with Pushbullet's changes, this might be the app for you. It doesn't support universal copy-and-paste, nor can you push webpages or files, but I rarely used those features anyway. I just used it as an easier way to see notifications and to respond to texts than constantly checking my phone. Yappy does all of that really, really well!
Notifications happen occasionally for SMS (still always for Yappy messages). However, when SMS app integration is enabled, I am sending duplicate messages through Yappy. This only happens when integration is enabled for a compatible app, i.e. QKSMS, AwSMS, etc. When integration is disabled, duplicates stop, but I stop getting notifications across all devices, and naturally lose all other advantages to integration. In spite of this, the dev is fantastic, listens to user input, and this is still the best solution I've found for texting from other devices at a reasonable price point--just have to work out a few kinks!
-Auto restart Yappy service if Android kills it in the background
-Added support for SDK updates - allow individual message deletion
- Added fallback call verification if user is unable to verify phone via SMS
- Bug fixes
