Have been using for a couple of weeks now, just left Mighty text after five years of them constantly reducing the number of texts that can be sent. I am happy for the most part. My only complaint would be that at times it seems I cannot stay connected to the net so I will be in the middle of sending something and it will disconnect. This goes on for a while at times. Other than that, I like it.
I switched to this from mightytext after they reduced the cap on texts again... it worked great for the first week... now none of my texts send or receive. I made sure the sync settings were on and even set yap mode to always on so it w9uld constantly sync. Nothing. Seems less useful than mightytext. At least that app sends and receives consistently.
This is extremely buggy. I've been using it for years because I don't want to pay for push bullet. I'm tired of it crashing in my browser and the crash notification taking over everything and focusing on that tab. There can be whole days that it doesn't send texts to my phone from my pc making it pointless, so I have to type them out on my phone anyway.
This is the best free app of its kind that I have tried. Users of MightyText who are frustrated with its ever-shrinking free tier and ridiculous monthly subscription prices will find this app a good alternative. There are still a few bugs, but the general sending and receiving of SMS has been good. Bugs I'm seeing: 1) Whenever I receive a MMS, I get multiple copies of the same picture in the Yappy web app. 2) I use Firefox 58, and it won't allow me to install Yappy's extension because it's unsigned. That's a pretty simple thing that needs to be fixed.
DO NOT PAY ! I paid for lifetime membership, yet never got active, ive emailed support multiple times and no support. ZERO SUPPORT FOR MY PAID SUBSCRIPTION. In the FAQ, creator has stated he will no longer support unpaid customers, and paid ones either if you read the reviews. Also, when you use it, the person receiving your messages also get an additional one asking them to download yappy (and pay ofcourse), without asking for permission from you to do so. As of today, caller id no longer works, and note states it will only work for customers that pay for business app, again, with no proof that it will work since there is ZERO SUPPORT. Stay away, use Pulse, much better and they promise never to charge.
Don't listen to the negative reviews. So far Yappy has performed flawlessly for me. I was using MightyText until I was notified of their lame monthly 150 text limit on the free version. Yappy has no limit on texts for personal use. I can even see the names of people who text me in the left-hand column. MightyText only displayed phone numbers in the left column and since I'm not in the habit of memorizing phone numbers, I had no idea who was texting me. What a pain in the ass. So far Yappy has been great and I'd certainly upgrade to a pro version if they added some functionality to use it as an integrated marketing tool through sites like Facebook, Instagram, twitter & Pinterest. I'd also like it to port messages and listing info over from my Amazon Seller Central account so I could respond immediately to customer concerns and directly promote my product listings. I'm sure they could write an API to do this. Basically I'm looking for an all-in-one solution for marketing and communication for Amazon sales that can be accessed from my desktop and phone. If anyone from Yappy reads this, I'd be willing to do beta-testing on an app like that in exchange for a lifetime free subscription.
