The “We Can’t Wait” app offers Crohn’s & colitis patients and others a simple and fast way to locate publicly accessible restrooms and helps identify sympathetic establishments.

Patients with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis (collectively known as inflammatory bowel disease, or IBD) can have unexpected, urgent needs to find an open restroom at a moment’s notice.

This app also provides education and resources for those looking for IBD support and information, and information on the status of restroom access legislation in each state.

How do we collect our restrooms?
Unlike most toilet-finder apps, we have two primary methods for collecting restrooms:
• Businesses/establishments that have directly contributed restrooms to our app – they’re aware of and sympathetic to the needs
of IBD patients
• Crowdsourced restroom information (contributed by users)

By partnering with businesses and other locations with publicly available restrooms, we hope to help patients and others feel
welcomed when they urgently need a restroom away from home.

We hope you will use and enjoy this app. Please feel free to contribute any restrooms that you think are missing from our map!

Ratings and reviews

This is a great idea for an app, and is easy to navigate!!! I can't even count the number of times I've needed a public bathroom but ran into issues finding one. I look forward to helping contribute, and hopefully to see more businesses adding their own info to make it even easier. The app could use a visual upgrade, and it'd be nice to see others' reviews of each restroom, but those are just minor suggestions for something new.

As more people use the app over time, it will become more useful. You can add bathrooms that you know are accessible so that others can see them and so that you can keep track of the locations around you. It also links to IBD patient support and information, as well as a digital bathroom pass. An all-around nice and well thought-out app!

Interface is a bit clunky. You can view a map that shows the businesses, however if you want to add a restroom you have to go out of that map and manually enter the business information. The spaces for business hours and amenities needs some serious work. It's a good start, but it needs a lot more work.
