Planetas is an application about our solar system that allows interactive exploration of the dimensions and relative distances from the sun to the various planets. If you put the sun with a meter in diameter in a location where the orbits of the planets would be? And what if the sun has a diameter of three meters? How old am I on Venus? And how many days do I have? How much do I weight on Saturn? This application allows you to explore all this.
The exhibition MATER joined the commemorations of the UNESCO initiative "2013 Year of Mathematics of Planet Earth".
With five modules: TIME, SPACE, LIFE, ART and DAILY LIFE, intended to show how mathematics plays a key role in issues related to our planet.
Coordinate systems, with appropriate scales, constitute one of the mathematical tools that better enable you understand and study a given phenomenon in all its dimensions and quite correctly.
In the module SPACE we introduced a spatial scale so that the most relevant objects in the known Universe stay properly referenced, creating thus an overall more accurate, more complete, more comprehensive and probably more surprising than that we possibly have.
With this application we intend to extend the MATER exhibition on time giving teachers and students an exciting interaction with the planets of our Solar System.
