About this app

Create and play your own custom synthesizers and instruments!

Inspired by the Korg Kaossilator and Moog synthesizers, Saucillator transforms mobile devices into a platform for creating and playing digital synthesizers. Users use the touchscreen to manipulate oscillators and effects, and can also do live-looping and recording. Our goal is to be beginner friendly while at the same time offering all the deep, complex features traditional synth users love.

A multi track looper and beat generator are available to create synth loops and synchronize a beat/click track alongside it. Loops can be modified, toggled, and added as you're playing.

Users are able to play custom modular synthesizers using the x-y axes of the touchscreen. The x-axis corresponds to amplitude (volume) and the y-axis corresponds to frequency (pitch). Playback can also be looped, recorded, and EQed using a Parametric EQ.

On top of performing, users are able to create their own custom synthesizers, which consist of a custom timbre and user-defined effects. A variety of timbres are included: Sine, Square, Saw, Pulse, Noise, Theremin, "Singing Saw", "Electric Eel", and "Starslide" (among many more). These, as well as any user-created synths, can be mixed and matched at different harmonics, amplitudes, and phases to create custom sounds.

Each synth has customizable fx parameters as well, including Envelope (ADSR - attack & release), Vibrato LFO (rate & depth), Tremolo, Delay, Distortion, Parametric EQ, and Note Lag (Portamento). We also include a Filter (low-pass, highpass, bandpass) that can be modulated using an Envelope or LFO.

Custom synths can also be shared with the Saucillator community via an easy built-in sharing tool. Download other users' synths or upload your own, all from in app!

Other abilities:
-Choose scale: Pentatonic, Major, Minor, Blues, or Chromatic (among others).
-Choose the base note for the pad.
-Control the grid size.
-Record to disk.
-Live visualization of waveforms.
-Play synths with external midi controllers

Special thanks to Garrett Langley (http://dribbble.com/glangley) for helping with design and general usability.

Wow! I woke up in the middle of the night and decided to record a dream of mine but accidentally hit this app in a sleepy haze. I have had this app for many years and have always downloaded it on my phones despite not being updated all that time. I am not a musician but I love the calmness and peace of mind when I interact with this app (or at least how I configured the output). it puts me in a meditative state and for that I much appreciate it. Glad to see it get an update!

it's amazing, I love it, exactly what I was looking for, however there's one big issue. For my generic phone, the latency is terrible, with around a fourth a second between pressing something on my wired midi keyboard, and saucillator playing the note. and, with no ovbious way to mitigate this gap, it's unfortunately unusable. an absolute shame, as no other app comes near this functionality.

hey thanks for the review! reach out matt@saucillator.com - would be happy to help debug if you'd like. a few things to try: drop "attack" effect all the way to 0, make sure you're not using bluetooth midi, drop the buffer size in advanced settings (something like 128 or 64). happy saucin!

Please add proaudio support for lower touch to audio output latency, even though I'm having snapdragon 8 elite I'm not getting the best possible lower latency
