About this app

Overview
iVMS-4500 (Android) mobile client software, which is designed for mobile phone on the basis of Android OS (Version 4.0 or higher), can be used to remotely monitor the live video from embedded DVR, NVR, network camera, network speed dome and encoder via wireless network, play back record files, locally store and manage pictures and videos, control alarm output and realize PTZ control as well.
With this software installed in your phone, you are able to log onto the front-end device via Wi-Fi or 3G; besides, if there is no public IP available for the device, it’s accessible by using a dynamic domain name, or by mapping ports to the public IP of router.
Notes:
1.Wi-Fi, 2G or 3G access service must be supported by the phone.
2.Network traffic charges may be produced during the use of this client software. Please refer to the local ISP.

Note
1.The live view effect is related to the performance of the network and phone hardware. If the live view is not fluent or the screen appears blurred, please reduce the resolution, frame rate and bitrate of the camera, or decrease the image quality in the software.

Since we are approaching the 3 year mark, still with issues, no updates, and no response from Hikvision, I am lowering my rating. Previous review:I used to be fairly pleased with this app, but it has been progressively falling behind. Alarms haven't worked on Android phones in over a year, but work fine on iPhone. Hasn't been an update in over two years. What gives?

Worked well until a recent release. As an app developer, I sent a full stack trace to the support info email, and they refused to help me because I had purchased the DVR on Amazon. Even though the problem was between their app and their server, and had nothing to do with the DVR. What could have been a good customer experience was instead turned into an utter failure.

The app runs all the time in background (with a permanent notification) and permission to phone's camera. I used this app to monitor my dog in a boarding - for which neither is needed. Plus the UI is clunky - the picture resizes sometimes to leave a margin. On the plus side, adding the specified camera wasn't tough. I had to forceably disable the extra permissions, but many users won't do so - seems an update is desperately needed.
