Pay to play. The fact that you have to pay to create a group specific to your interest completely discourages people from using this app. The simple fact is that people do not want to pay for services they can get for free in other apps. This therefore leaves a rather small user base for Meetup. Clean up the interface, introduce ads instead of subscriptions, and this might actually be an attractive app.
I didn't think it was possible for me to vote this lower. The latest update BREAKS functionality for people who travel. It is no longer possible to look at the calendar for ALL events in your area. You can see all the groups, OR the calendar for groups you belong to. *** When I'm traveling I don't care about a particular group but I am looking for something interesting to do.***
The app is terribly designed. It looks pretty, but the functionality is sorely lacking. You can't edits your "Interests" at all, it's very hard to figure out how to edit the groups you're in, it seems to be impossible to remove bad Meetup suggestions in order to improve their algorithm. Not flexible and not nearly as usable as it should be.
It should be possible to delete groups one isn't interested in. Otherwise I keep bumping into them with no reason and it takes me ages to find the ones I am looking for. Why isn't possible to delete conversations and only archive them...what's the use for it??
LEL, NO. The app was perfect with a beautiful SWIPEABLE tabbed UI and is now bogged down by an ugly bar at the bottom and no more swiping. This bottom bar no swiping plague in apps needs to be cured.
Love Meetup groups. The app is ordinary though. The chat section is all over the place & very confusing to follow. Notifications also need a lot of work.
