Review from Hedley Watson
Just seems to work well.
Finally an app that actually plays on Chromecast with no buffer issues. Only problem is the MegaCast logo on top right as there should be an option to take it off.
I had high hopes, watching my own content 10mins into the film it crashes, i retry for a second time and again 10 mins in it crashes again. Very fustrating i was going to purchase premium but not now
It has been working for a long time but I seem to have the same problem as a lot of people are having 1 minute it plays then it stops really fed up with it now.
So dissapointing, install, run, play 3 minutes, crash to advertisement on my television. So many of these google apps are failures, because google leaves it up to the community to develop their ecosystem. So many of these apps are designed to be a scam delberately, compatibility, for example, of DLNA clients with preexisting servers, has been in many cases deliberately engineered out. If i have a $50 DLNA server software suite installed, pointed at 6000 GB of media, I am not going to replace and reinstall a new DLNA server everytime purchase a new type of device (roku, firestick, chromecast, smart TV cough, plex, cough). Its cheaper for me to buy firesticks, because someone has assumed accountability for their ecosystem - IE when I buy an app, it works. Its not requesting I reformat my NAS install their server software suite, or pay money to get rid of advertisements. I aint sayin, im just sayin, in the information age we should be mking things simpler to the benefit of all concerned, instead of lining our bank accounts wit $4.99 for clients desgined to be icnompatibe with competitors services DLNA was meant to be a standard protocol, not something to butcher to further a cold racket.
Needs improvement a lot. I've purchased the premium version, but subtitles not preloading as promised, and sometimes they don't show at all (and should be more customization options too, like font type and color). The video thumbs list appears on a ramdom order, difficulting the search, and a list view could be appreciated.
A good idea but ultimately not very practical on a smartphone. The app transcodes all video before playing and while this does allow the playback of almost any format many phones do not have the processing power to keep up in real-time, plus your phone gets very hot due to the constant high processing load. Also you can't transcode offline because the app must be linked to a Chromecast before it will work. Interesting concept but unfortunately flawed.
* Major connection speed improvement
