I love this app
I love this app, the exercises have been really effective for me, but the app is seemingly broken for me now. I only give it 3 stars currently for two reasons. For one, it pushes the Pro version on us free users entirely too often. Secondly, and this is the big app-breaking issue, I can't move on to the next exercise. The next ex says "try something new: meet the natives" - tap it and the Pro-pricing window pops up. I hit "skip to next exercise" below the pop-up, and then "meet the natives" changes to "listening skills" - tap that, and the Pro window pops up again. Try to skip, "meet the natives" is back. Guess what happens when I tap on it; Pro pop-up! Skip, Listening Skills, tap, Pro pop-up, skip, Meet the natives, tap, pro pop-up, skip, listening skills, tap, pro pop-up, and on and on it goes. I'm about 1/3 through German 1, part 7 (parts 4 and 6 are perma-locked for pro users I'm guessing), and I can't continue any exercises due to the bugged-out loop described above. The app contains no contact or support info so I'm kind of at a loss here...
This is by far the best app I've ever used to learn a language. I'm not very far into it, but the techniques it uses are brilliant. I'm considering actually buying the pro version of it - although it is not very clear what benefits are gained from going pro? One thing I think should be included is speech recognition, so you know that you are sounding the sentences correctly - maybe this is in the product and I have not come across it - or maybe it's in the pro version. Anyway, can always use Google Translate to check. This App is a great way to learn a language, well done to the developers ☺️
Great for helping you with pronunciation since the recordings aren't robotic and the videos are native speakers. I also love the daily repetition of words until they become natural, hence the apt title "Memrise". The drawback is it doesn't teach grammar rules (maybe it does under PRO?) unlike Duolingo which has a notes session and online users ready to answer questions when you're stuck so I use both apps daily to meet my needs.
Getting worse! Although I hate the stupid space ship theme and the idiotic undercover agent nonsense, I've stuck with it because the basic premise is sound and the app worked. Since the last upgrades this is not the case. The courses take a while to load and sometimes freeze altogether. The type face in Speed Review is so small that it is impossible to read on a mobile device and is thus useless. Also, the leaderboard totals have not updated for over a week. It wasn't broken, so why the bloody hell did you fix it?
Truly the best language learning app by far. I've tried so many. This one works. Great voce audio and video at all the right places. The exercises are fantastic. Also I'm learning useful phrases and not stuff like "she reads the newspaper"
