I like the app but I wish I could have the option to type out words myself, they give you parts of words and you put together sentences that way. There's only one chat interaction available in Korean (maybe there's more in the second course) and it doesn't teach you the difference between formal and regular speech. This is a good learning guide, buying a book will probably be better. 안녕하세요
The concept is very good and the relevance of the sentences is high (contrary to Duolingo). The learning with locals is great where you listen to actual random native speakers with different accents. However, if doesn't like synonyms and when for instance translating they were, the answer had to be" ils étaient; elles étaient. " Starting with Elles was not accepted. They really have to fix this. The grammarbot is also very good, but could do with a lot of extension (i do french)
I really like the app so far, much better than similar ones. Although I'm not sure about the frequency of the speed review, I seem to have to do it after two rounds e.g. Learn new words and learn with locals, and I'll also get given 2 consecutive speed reviews. It doesn't feel like it could happen that way. I also never get given the pronunciation task, and if I try to select it manually it doesn't load. Hope there is a fix because the rest is great.
Excellent. More fun than Duolingo. Regarding daily goals; I find 5 is too little but 15 is sometimes too much. I noticed with the daily progress bar (top right), 15 appears to be 4 times more work than 5. Could you add a 4th setting '10', or reduce the work required for 15 please?
I really enjoy this app. I'm brushing up on my Spanish, so I decided to compare Duolingo and Memrise. Memrise teaches in a more natural manner, and the phrases they teach are immediately usable. Spanish being such a regional language, it's great that Memrise teaches Spanish much closer to what is spoken in my local area. My one complaint is that occasionally words in Spanish are translated into words in English that are similar, but not the same, and there is no way to mark or report the word for review. For example, 'papel' is translated as 'paper' or 'role', but it shoyld be 'roll', not 'role'. Also 'aide' and 'aid' are different things.
It's wonderful for basic phrases (and basic lessons of other skills) and excellent for making you feel committed to learning vocab. The downside is that it has zero immersion or interactiveness or games, it's nothing but flashcards. You need to actually learn to use the language elsewhere. No real bugs, which is a big plus compared to busuu.
