Best SMB explorer on the market Phone: Samsung Galaxy Nexus (4.0.4) Server: Custom Server (Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS / Samba 3.4.7) This is exactly what i was looking for and it works great! Networking isn't everyone's forte (judging by some of the reviews). All i can say is try it. It works perfectly for me and i have a pretty standard samba setup. I would like to point out that some phones ALWAYS capitalize the first letter of every input box... If you are getting authentication errors, you may want to have a look at that. (letter case matters in the word of authentication)
Works fine for Windows not so much for FreeNAS Have a Windows 2008 server and was able to connect fine to shares. Working on a FreeNAS server and it will not connect unless I drop to an older insecure version of SMB. Guess it's time to find a different SMB client and file manager. Would figure support for newer protocols would be added since soon the old protocols will be worthless SMB 2 support should be minimum and SMB 3 should be available.
Failed to see local network for SMB copy I installed the app and SMB additional module/app. I was unable to explore the local network on my Galaxy S4. There was nothing displayed from a network of more than 20 nodes. I used ES File Explorer which allowed me to manually define server (vs Astro auto scan) and I was able to copy. I have used the app before on other devices and it has value. However it failed in this use case.
Great apps. Multiple laptops, mobile devices, windows 7 on most PC's and towers...HP, Dell...Android on Asus/android mobiles and tablets, Cisco router and all shares between discrete platforms work fine...anyone with a contrary comment does not have basic skills...my mom thinks AOL is her computer...maybe dumb down "anyone" in the user base to "people that understand IP and Mac adressing " or at least remember passwords as a requirement. I seem to be able to access all data from all remotely. Just a stupid sales guy...
It's very slow... It's great to be able to browse my network, but it literally takes hours to copy anything meaningful, like an episode of a show. I also tested this on some photos and it took about 20 minutes per photo to copy.
Errors no support Astro used to be the go to file management app, but they have really fallen off. Just take a look at their support forum. App doesn't connect, produces DUP NAME errors.
