Great app but with a few annoying things. I love the integration with Windows 10 meaning I can see notifications on my PC / Surface / laptop. I noticed a new feature today that allows you add calendar to Cortana. Even though I already have calenders set up, I have to reconfigure them. Wouldn't it be easier to just let it talk to Google calender or to pick accounts that have calendar sync enabled? I have 3 Microsoft accounts, but it still wants me to set it up again.
It just can't compete with Google now. It can't understand simple things like my alarm being correctly am or pm. It doesn't have enough customization options. I want to like it, but it's streets behind so far. Every morning it chimes in without an option to disable. It comes off as an annoying push notification rather than help.
3 star for now. I'll get 5 stars if you do this you should be doing something to make Cortana listen in background are there should be a floating mic. So as we can command Cortana in any app. Do these things and this app will be the best.
I'll preface this by saying I love how useful it is, especially across devices. All my information between my computer, tablet, and phone in one place. However it does need some more development, Cortana needs to be able to sustain a conversation based on what you tell her, she can't just start over each new time. Furthermore she needs to be able to anticipate followup questions and provide possible actions you may wish to do. Over all, it's a great tool and she has a sense of humor that is superior to google and Siri.
I love Cortana, and it pains my heart to have to rate it so low. However, this app is just too buggy. On my Galaxy S8+, the UI often (at least 75% of the time) does not render correctly, especially if the app is launched from a notification. The white background for the news items is missing, and the icons to navigate between news, reminders, etc. are missing. The only way to solve this is to restart the app. Also, coming from Windows Phone: 1. Why do I have to drag up to see stuff I care about. Why is 80% of the screen used for a welcome message when starting the app? 2. There don't seem to be any "time to leave" reminders in the Android app. 3. Cortana can't access the calendar in the Outlook app. Either Outlook needs to sync with the system calendar, or Cortana needs to be able to integrate with Outlook, but this has to be fixed. 4. No voice flow for sending texts, creating reminders, etc. I can initiate the action, but making corrections or confirming by voice the way Cortana can on Windows does not seem possible. 5. No way to control any music apps, specifically Groove. This is much missed while driving compared to Windows Phone.
I have Google Home, which sucks by the way. Cortana does a WAY BETTER JOB, HANDS DOWN. If you have both take the challenge and ask both the same questions. You will be amazed how Google Home sucks.
