Microsoft Lens (formerly Microsoft Office Lens) trims, enhances, and makes pictures of whiteboards and documents readable.
You can use Microsoft Lens to convert images to PDF, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel files, digitize printed or handwritten text, and save to OneNote, OneDrive, or your local device. You can even import images that are already on your device using Gallery.

Ratings and reviews

This app is one of the best scanners out there, it's super easy to use and it always produces a clear picture. It can combine multiple photos into one file and can save to device in a wide variety of ways extremely easily. I would recommend this to any student, it has saved me on assignment submissions in multiple classes. I've recommended it to all my friends.

Update: Sad to report that Lens no longer works on my Samsung S20 phone. It won't upload to OneDrive. Too bad. It was such a simple and reliable app. First Comment: I tried 3 or 4 phone scanning apps before this one. This is what I have been looking for. It's simple, clarity is good, and it works well with OneDrive.

If you scan a lot of documents on your phone, this app is amazing. I hate when try to "scan" my documents and my phone casts a shadow on my pages. With this app, you can take the shot from an angle and it will automatically flatten the image out as if you scanned it normally. It even fills in parts of the page if you accidentally cut off page in your shot!
