From the makers of "Pocket SLP - Articulation," an application wildly popular with speech therapists, comes a state of the art speech therapy tool specifically designed for parents to help their children with the pronunciation of those notorious Rs.
R is a complex sound that has a reputation for being one of the most difficult to address without consistent direction and practice. Home practice significantly improves the speed and accuracy of progress.
Parents can begin by reading easy to understand tips provided by practicing speech pathologists and viewing highly detailed diagrams for the tricky tongue positioning that R requires.
Then parents can begin using the stimulus cards that allow R practice at the beginning, middle, and end of words. Once your child is making progress with the R words, then parents can choose to include the words within sentences. With over 600 images, there is plenty of practicing to be done!
Best of all though is "The R App for Parents" allows parents to enter the names of their children and track their progress! Parents can "score" their child's responses by selecting "correct, incorrect, or close" buttons. This app will save each practice session and even allows for the results to be emailed to other family members or speech therapists.

"iTouchiLearn Words gives an interesting twist to iPhone educational apps. The animations are colorful and amusing, and hold great appeal for kids. Most iPhone educational apps work with flashcards, and iTouchiLearn Words is a fresh perspective that kids will enjoy and also learn something new in the process. iTouchiLearn Words is a fun way for kids to learn how to spell, pronounce and also see what words look like. It is definitely one of the better educational apps on the iPhone, and more of it would be most welcome." -iPhone Educational Games
"For those parents who have children who are just beginning how to learn to read, or for those parents who want an "edutaining" app for their young child, iTouchiLearn Words is a great choice. This app only costs $1.99, but it is better than some game apps that you will find priced so much more. iTouchiLearn Words will quickly become a favorite of your child. I highly recommend iTouchiLearn Words. iTouchiLearn Words can help children learn how to recognize certain words, and can teach them that learning is a fun process, too." Helium - 5 Stars!
"A cute and engaging educational app geared toward teaching toddlers word and image associations. Great for the burgeoning mind. I really like the egg animation, in particular. It’s actually quite brilliant, and I’m sure, fascinating for a child to behold. iTouchiLearn Words definitely has more potential than other, more static flashcard type apps in the App Store." -AppStruck - 4 Stars!

BridgingApps said: “an excellent app for assisting young children in developing very beginning reading skills and preschool/school-age children in learning sight words”.
An interactive app that allows children to learn at their own pace, Special Words has 4 games with increasing difficulty, and has been designed in close consultation with parents, children and professionals. With a simple and intuitive interface, this app has been shown to be accessible and hold the attention of children with Down syndrome, autism, poor fine motor skills, hearing impairment and other learning difficulties, as well as being appealing to typically developing children.
Special Words comes with 96 written words children use in their early vocabulary. It includes matching pictures, written and spoken words, in 22 languages: English (American, British and Australian), Albanian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Croatian, Dutch, Finnish, Flemish, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Luxembourgish, Norwegian (Bokmål), Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian and Welsh. You can easily replace the words and re-record the audio in any other language your child uses. You can quickly add more words, pictures and sounds for family members, friends, and familiar objects, to increase your child’s interest, and further develop their reading vocabulary.
A 12-week trial in schools has demonstrated that Special Words can enhance communication, language and literacy skills, and has shown that it has a positive impact on the development of expressive language, receptive language, word recognition, reading and listening skills. To read the trial report or the Special Words User Guide, visit the Special iApps website, www.specialiapps.com.
This is an app for tablets and phones, and you can easily transfer personalized text, pictures and sounds between devices, using Bluetooth or e-mail.
The words and pictures provided with Special Words are the same as those in the See and Learn Language and Reading resources from Down Syndrome Education International, and this app can be used to complement the use of their paper-based See and Learn activities.

Articulation Flash Cards for /r/ is the Speech-Tastic app to help children practice /r/ speech words. The app was designed by a Speech and Language Pathologist and provides 45 word images for the /r/ sound. The images can be selected by initial, medial, final or all positions of the word. The children love swiping each image and the colorful real life pictures make practicing /r/ words fun!
The TALKING AROUND TOWN game has a simple and clean interface created to give families a fun and easy tool to use with their child to practice their speech sounds. Families are busy and it can be hard finding the time to work on ‘speech’ with all of the homework, activities and chores to be done. Children can also do well with their sounds when they are sitting at the table but forget to include them in less structured activities and locations.
Speech sound production is a motor task and once your child has learned their sound it takes practice- practice -practice like any other motor skill (e.g., typing or playing an instrument) for them to use it with ease.
As the saying goes ‘practice makes perfect’.
TAT was designed for parents to work on speech sounds with their child during their daily activities- grocery shopping, going to the park etc. and create an opportunity for ‘on the go’ speech practice.
While playing TAT we hope that you and your child will increase your awareness and attention to speech sounds that are occurring in your environment all around you and be motivated to practice them while playing this ‘treasure hunting’ game doing real life speech practice.
TAT includes a number of features:
- Quick setup
- Fully customizable, the parent/child can select the sound, words and locations to play
- More than 450 target words are included representing all sound positions (initial, medial, final)
- Includes voice recording. The recordings can be played back and re-recorded but are not saved. Voice quality varies so it is best if the parent monitors and evaluates their child’s pronunciation
- The child can use the word on its own, in a phrase or short sentence that they create or repeat after the parent
- There is a challenge level as the child progress (sounds in various positions, multiple target sounds in the word, etc.)
- Independent word scoring system to make the game different every time it is played
- Can be played virtually –the child can pretend to be at the location and practice the target sounds and words without leaving home or the car!

Milo is back to bring you Sequencing exercises like you have never used before! Enjoy 35 dynamic sequencing exercises using animation to keep your child engaged. Speech with Milo: Sequencing was created by a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist to help children develop sequencing and storytelling skills. The adorable mouse Milo brings a friend along this time to entertain and help your child.
★★★★★ "This app developer really understands what SLP's find valuable in an app that is used in a therapy setting."
★★★★★ "I use the Milo apps on a daily basis in therapy and the children remain engaged and truly enjoy playing and learning with Milo. This app is a must buy."
Build basic sequencing skills by ordering three cards showing Milo and Melvin performing a task. For example, cards showing Milo “Washing Hands” and “Going to the Movies” are presented in random order. The child is tasked with putting the cards in order by dragging the images into the appropriate box (numbered 1-3). Once the child has put the cards in order, they are provided with the option to play the animation demonstrating the sequence of events. The app is provided with configurable options to view hints, hear the sentence aloud, ‘success’ sounds, etc. Forget those $15 Sequencing cards at the educational stores- this is much more fun for your child.

Speech with Milo first became popular amongst Speech-Language Pathologists and parents with apps to help children build language skills with Verbs and Prepositions. The Verbs app represented the education category for the Mobile Premier Awards and was embraced by the parent community. Now Milo returns to help build critical sequencing skills.
The app comes with a set of instructions written by a licensed SLP to help you work with your child.
These are the language skills you will be targeting with this app:
•Storytelling and/or retelling
•Time concepts “first,” “next,” and “last”
•Increasing utterance length
•Developing complex sentences
•Improving grammatical skills
