The Mindful fit app was made by Dr. Lynnette Lyzwinski and had been previously backed by research for university and college students. Research indicates that stress in university students is associated with weight gain, emotional eating, binge eating, and low levels of physical activity and that mindfulness can help with it (Lyzwinski et al). This app was updated and modified to make it applicable for not only students, but also young adults in general as many young adults can benefit from some elements of the program, tailored to special needs. It also has a stronger lifestyle program with fitness that is based on body positivity and self-acceptance. It teaches mindfulness for reducing stress and promoting mental wellbeing. The app also teaches about healthy lifestyle behaviours through mindful eating, a healthy diet, and mindful exercise. Additionally, the app has special mindfulness meditations tailored to different needs such as smoking, drinking, disordered eating, and various emotional hardships. There are also plenty of student tailored meditations that target unique issues that college students face ranging from exam stress to issues with eating healthily in a new environment. It also teaches mindful yoga and general mindful physical activity. Get fit mentally and physically with MindfulFit! By learning how to control your thoughts, you’ll be better equipped to control how you respond to stressors and your lifestyle habits and choices.
