Happy with the app and just upgraded. Great way to practice reading and writing kanji. I especially like the quiz option where the user is asked to write the kanji and stroke order and placement is scored. EDIT: After some reflection, I decided to change my rating to 5 stars. I'm usually pretty careful with my 5 star reviews, but this app is definitely worth it.
This is literally the most impressive app I have ever seen in my life, especially for learning Japanese on your phone. There is absolutely everything you could need to get better at any level of learning Kanji and there's many ways to challenge yourself it's so handy. Well done creator, I hope everyone will pay for the full version and I will recommend it to anyone interested.
I really enjoy the variety of study options and how comprehensive the configurables are! I can create my own groups of study characters, sort by radical or number of strokes, I can see how fast I recognise the kanji I'm studying and some other statistics. It even has shortcuts for your phone screen that show you study streaks and let you jump into your current study list. This app is brilliant and less than the cost of a textbook! Amazing! Well worth the $12!
I've only learned 110 Kanji so far with this app, but that was worth the $12 or so it cost. The rest of the perks this app gives, like the search feature, practicing Kanji writing, the tests, and everything else was just bonuses to an app that already paid for itself. I gave the creator some extra money, I hope this app gets even better.
Great study tool. Very rich with features. Beware that some hiragana readings for example sentences are not always in the correct form (長い間 should be ながいあいだ, not ながいま, 何てこった should be なんてこった not なにてこった). I assume this is because the Tatoeba corpus does not provide readings, and the automatic Kuromoji analysis doesn't always provide the correct reading. Anyway, if you take the example sentences with a grain of salt and focus on the vocabulary words you should have no problem.
It really needs a way to study multiple kanji as a word, and not just kanji by themselves. It's confusing to study a kanji as one-half of "宿題" for example. Otherwise, great app. Best kanji studying app I've tried. You can definitely use it just fine without paying, though I ended up paying just to support the developer. ^^ The added (premium) functionality of studying in groups is really helpful and I use it daily now. Besides wanting to study kanji in conjunction, which will hopefully come someday (since there's already vocabulary in the app that you can save to favorites), it's just about perfect. The writing function is a little buggy, but there's only so much touch accuracy you can expect from a mobile app. Also, the definition of elements get a little weird, so for certain kanji it's hard to look them up because their main elements aren't registered.
