Effective as a dictionary and even the word-of-the day is entertaining. Two items annoy: the app keeps popping up with "Rate Later/Rate 5 Stars" (which itself maximizes the rating at 4 stars: apps should not annoy me) and landscape mode is not supported. However, having the OED at my fingertips wherever I go sure is handy!
Definitely, the best English dictionary I have seen so far. Without the (very) annoying and daily messages to rate the app, I would wholeheartedly rated it 5 stars. Which I finally did, as the app really deserves it, but I still think that the marketing strategy needs to be reconsidered.
I would get the premium version only if you introduced the pop up feature. Coping a word from a text with the definition and the right pronunciation coming up on the screen is a great experience while reading. American apps are much better on language learning tools...
Completely overwhelmed by the ads - not worth the dignity of a British institution. This is an American invasion of consciousness. I will get rid of it pronto and download another app that doesn't focus solely on ads to support its existence. Shame on you Oxford!
I bought premium content because I love OUP and want to support them. They still hound me for a five-star review with literally no way to opt-out. One star review for being so incredibly annoying.
Search using wildcards; eventually get a long list of words; select a word; read the definition; select back button expecting to return to the previous list of words; but no I have to wait while the list of words is recompiled. Please save the list and return me to the exact word I selected to view, when I hit the back key. Then I'll give a decent score. And I'm not happy you needed access to ID and phone details before I could update this time!!! This problem still exists despite a number of new releases 6 May 17 Appears no interest in fixing it. Great - thanks for fixing my issue
