One in five new drivers crash in their first year. And using smartphones and speeding are the two main causes.
At Toyota, our main goal for the future is to totally eliminate automotive accidents and fatalities. And in a context in which teenagers tend to not pay attention to any warnings, awareness campaigns or tips to drive safely, we asked ourselves: how to make them listen?
That’s why we’ve created Safe & Sound, an App that takes away the stress for parents and also helps young drivers stay focused on the road.
As soon as the App detects the car is in motion it activates the ‘Do not disturb’ feature, which prevents social media notifications and phone calls.
But the driver can still play their music.
And that is until the App detects the speed limit is broken or it senses the phone being picked up - it will stop playing their music and start playing mum and dad’s playlist. And if they try and turn it off, the App has got that covered too and will play even more embarrassing music.
Toyota’s Safe & Sound App it’s a tool that teaches teenagers to drive safely without parents actually being there.
