Update: After updating to Android 8.0, it doesn't work as well as it used to in 7. Now there is a large overlay icon visible in the lower right corner of the newly created custom icon. Spoils the look entirely. I think I need to search for a new app now. Original Review: It does what it says, without requiring me to give it extraordinary amounts of permissions. It's simple and I can use pretty much any image as an app icon. It's pretty much perfect as it is. The only suggestion I have is to maybe allow emojis to be used as icons from whatever default emoji set is available on the phone.
Worked 100% fantastically in Android 7.0. I was able to use my Mador icon pack on all my apps and they looked great. Now that I updated to 8.0 the icons can either be too big or be small and have the Awesome Icons logo in the bottom corner. Also, I can't put any of the changed apps into folders with other apps. Only the previous apps I had changed during 7.0 can. Please fix this soon.
I used this on Android N and it was completely flawless. It does not work really at all on Android O. It was not showing me the badge notifications on the icons and now it has this stupid overlay on top of the icon which is dumb. Nobody is going to want that on their phone. Unless you fix that, this app is done. The widget option also does not work. I was absolutely in love with this app before Oreo.
Broken on oreo. Try "Adapticons" app. It's not as easy to use but it works with Oreo. You can create widget icons that look exactly like they should, can be docked, work with icon packs, and have the text as well. You can even change the size, shape, and background color. I still prefer Awesome Icons and will be happy to switch back once it's worked out.
You know what people who take the time to make custom icons hate? When other apps add their own logo in the corner of all the new custom icons. Please make it work like in Android 7.0 or at least add an option in the pro version to take the little logo away.
Come on, in Oreo, if I select create widge option, there will be no app name displayed under the icon. If I don't, the icon will get a small awesome icon dot. Please make a perfect experience.
Now works on Android 8.0.
