The actual app is great, but it stopped working. I had learned some hiragana before, but never really got about half the characters to stick in a way that let me effectively read Japanese. Just a few sessions with the app playing through each quiz and then practicing oft mixed up characters got me up to speed and I can read hiragana (slowly) with ease now. However, since those first few sessions and paying for adless, the app started lagging terribly and now won't even open at all.

I purchased it and completely recommend it for beginners to learn hiragana and katakana

its helping me learn the japanese alphabet quite well! My only trouble is that i wish the quiz and reading excercises would only include the letters you have already learned. Maybe that way it would be hard to make words for the excercises but they don't necessarily have to be words all the time since its just reading. Otherwise this app is great for beginners.
