Archipelodio is an experiment in generative sound composition that connects listeners in an algorithmic artificial network. The work takes the form of an audio app that creates an immersive experience of a derive. In this system, the simple act of being a listener with a particular geolocalisation is a determining factor to generate the real-time evolution of the composition over time.
The composition is created from a growing database of recordings of sounds traveling through buildings, and voices of the city taken from local films’ dialogues. As a sound-walk, the work creates an alternative fluid world in which all listeners are connected through a network that conducts the real time processing of the sounds and their spatialisation in 3D audio; it invites listeners to rediscover the city through a narrative unfolding though their direct audio-visual experience as well as through the voiced possible fragments of fictions.
