Off by up to 40% This gets you close but not exact by any means. I have found after 5 attempts using this calculator and thermometer that the temp can be up to 100° lower even on a calm day. Add 40% more charcoal and distribute between top and bottom. I live near Raleigh, NC so elevation isn't an issue. Outside temps ranged from 80° - 90°.
Great start After several slow cook times, I added about 20% more coals and got much better results. Once the top middle is browned, move coals to rim to cook evenly.
Works Great on my Galaxy s5 !
Simple and accurate .
Almost perfect!!! The algorythm does not account for elevation. Apparently altitude (5300 ft. Calaveras Big Trees SP) has an effect on the number of coals require for desired temperature so requires a few more coals top and bottom. Looking forward to the next iteration!
Practical! Very useful, I hadn't used any guides on how many briquettes to use on a dutch oven. This app does the hard work for me!
