App has improved since last review, no way to dismiss notifications (ie: tips to use app), but overall I like it.
When adding multiple climbs at once, only one of the pictures added gets uploaded. Able to fix?
I think the app has a great user interface, that is helpful and fun to track my climbing progress. I have a few thoughts for improvements. 1. When choosing my style I would like a hang dog or fall option. I like to know if I was able to lead the climb, even if I wasn't able to red point it. I categorize my climbing ability as 1. climbs I can flash/onsight (kinda the same thing to me, but probably good that there is an option for both). 2. Climbs I can red point (basically climb without falling, but took me some to get it), 3. Climbs I can do all of the moves on but haven't quite polished to the point where I can do it without falling or resting like a hang dog or fall (this doesn't really count for bouldering). 2. I don't think the attempt should be part of the style choices. I can attempt things all day, it doesn't mean I know how to climb anything. The app also counts each attempt as an individual climb. This is especially a problem when it aggregates all of the climbs together for your profile and skews what you are actually able to climb. 3. The point system is a bit wonky. The way that it is set up right now someone could climb a lot of small climbs and be ranked higher than someone who climbs one or two difficult climbs. I use a running/biking app called strava, that ranks you against other runners based one time. It lets you compare yourself to other athletes in the area. This is one of the cooler features of an app like this. It is probably even more accurate in judging skill than is a competition. I don't think the point system does this very well. I'm not entirely sure how to fix this, but if be willing to give it some thought if this review goes anywhere. The answer lies in ranking those that climb harder better than those that don't climb as hard. 4. I think the bar graph that compiles all your climbs should color code for style when "all" is selected. Right now it color coded for difficulty, which isn't useful, because the bar graph already does this. I think that doing this would allow the user to see what level they are flashing, red pointing, and hang dogging all in one visual. I think this would be useful for the user to really get a quality distribution of their climbing ability. 5. You should allow the user to include locations that are not preloaded on the app. 6. Maybe find a way to preload route names. This thought is only half baked, but it would save some time when submitting climbing sessions. I should mention I know this would take a lot of work. I don't think it is entirely necessary, it would just be nice. Thanks for reading!
Seems like a great way to keep track of progress
Pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Tracks everything and make it look pretty too :P My only complaint is that it always needs wifi/data. Most gyms have spotty wifi at best and I don't use data. A simple "save offline" or "sync later" feature would REALLY be something to add.
