About this app

The largest Christian learning platform. And more than a library: Theosis takes you by the hand.

2,308 books of the Church Fathers are overwhelming if nobody tells you where to start. That is what Theosis does. You say what interests you and you get a curriculum that fits, adjusted week by week. 32,000 hours of it are read aloud, so your curriculum keeps running on the way to work.

"I love the app, I've had nothing but a great experience with it."

"Good app to dive deep into the Bible."

YOU ARE TAKEN BY THE HAND
* You pick the subjects you care about, Theosis builds your curriculum from them
* Every week the app asks how it is going and adjusts your goals and your pace
* Reading plans, a daily rhythm and a streak that rewards consistency
* Your next work: finds the book from your interests that fits you best right now

THE LIBRARY, ORDERED BY THE CHURCH YEAR
* 2,308 books in full text, not excerpts and not summaries
* Every book curated and categorised by hand, not by an algorithm
* New categories every week, following the liturgical cycle of the Church, suggesting what belongs to this season
* John Chrysostom, Basil the Great, Gregory of Nyssa, Maximus the Confessor, the Philokalia, the desert fathers
* 2,133 books are narrated, together 32,000 hours of audio across 11 languages

READ IT, HEAR IT OR PLAY IT
* Many books come as a podcast that sums the work up and discusses it
* Many books can be played as a quest, and read in full afterwards
* The Pearl of the Day condenses a book into two or three minutes
* A book of the day, 518 days deep

THE BIBLE, EXPLAINED VERSE BY VERSE
* You read a verse and get an explanation of what it means, right underneath it
* The explanations come from the Church Fathers themselves
* 134,858 commentaries from 316 Church Fathers, each one at its own verse
* 22,048 of the 36,117 verses are already explained, and more are coming
* Word studies in ancient Greek: tap a word and see what it actually says
* Cross references from verse to verse through the whole of Scripture
* Bible reading plans to choose from, so you stay with it daily

QUESTS
* Every quest follows a patristic work or a book of the Bible, nothing is invented
* You play your way through the work with illustrated images, with questions along the way
* New quests arrive every week
* Afterwards you decide whether to read the book in full

COUNCILS AND DOGMATICS
* The ecumenical councils, the creed and the canons, sourced and readable
* What was decided, who argued against it, and why it still binds today

THE LANGUAGE OF THE LITURGY
* Guided sessions on the words of the Divine Liturgy and the responses of the people
* For everyone who did not grow up with Greek or Church Slavonic at home and stopped asking what the priest just said

EVERY DAY
* The saint of the day from the Prologue of Ohrid, with the icon and the audio
* Private notes across everything you read
* A confession preparation that stays behind a lock on your device
* Reading circles, so you go through a book with other people instead of alone

Ratings and reviews

I am an Ethiopian Orthodox Christian and although I can't use the app because it requires a subscription which I truly couldn't afford, I like its concept. I could have given it a five star if there were some free features with daily or monthly limits. The effort is commendable!

Hey, developer team, im genuinely not trying to complain, but I just paid for the yearly membership for the app, and now everytime I open it, it closes and claims there's a bug so its unusable. I've tried un-installing and reinstalling, I've tried clearing cache, I've tried restarting my phone, but nothing seems to work. Can you please fix this bug so I can use the app, or let me know of some ways to troubleshoot?

really good app! clear audio books and Orthodox patristic and modern commentary on the bible. would it be possible for the daily readings to link to the version with the commentary alongside it? - would it be possible to have an option for the bible commentary for each chapter to be viewed all together? - would it be possible to have an option to allow us to change the colour of the bible commentary text boxes? saving quotes the text scroll and bible link doesn't work? Keep up the great work :)
