I've been using Wickr for quite some time now and have to say I highly recommend it. The features it includes by default are top notch. I also like the timed message removal option. This in my opinion adds a layer of security and privacy which before using Wickr I hadn't seen in a messaging app, at least by default. When it comes to the Account Security features I'm also impressed with Default settings. Keep up the good work Wickr!!!
Best Secure Mobile Messaging App out there . But!............. This App most certainly has the possibility of gaining a very strong & increasingly necessary foothold in the Messaging market, let alone the Secure & Encrypted field . With the 5 layers of security ciphers - 2 of which handle the security of the Keys - I am confident that my peer2peer content will Never be intercepted! But...the user interface is definitely in need of some 'de-nerding' to make itself more attractive and user friendly to the everyday user also more instructions & 'Help'. Then 5⭐️'s.
I liked the first day or two, then it stopped opening new incoming messages. I tried to contact support but nothing. I reset my account (where I lost all old messages) and a day later it stopped working again. Don't waste your time with it. EDIT after dev response: No, I don't have a need for it now. I have moved to another product that met my needs. I am not going to ask my contacts to move back to this after it failed multiple times before.
Needs fixing Great app but there are a few issues I've come across. 1) Sometimes my contacts say my messages destruct too quickly to read even though there's a long timer 2) I no longer receive message notifications after a few days of installation 3) Resetting the account shouldnt delete unread messages 4) Sometimes when I try to log in it automatically logs me out, resetting my phone fixes this --------- apart from this its an amazing app and allows usernames instead of phone number!! Woo!!
Secure, yes... But massively buggy and featureless Update: I think this app is abandoned. the only hope is to give them 1 star for all the bugs and hope they care. I would gladly pay for the app! OK, so it is secure, that's a given.. App feels like it's barely out of Alpha and into Beta testing. Force closes or has to be force closed a lot to work. Camera and video functions are a joke, very poor.
This is my third re-install since I first installed Wickr 6 weeks ago. The 1st & 2nd were due to me not being able to *open* messages waiting for as well as new ones, but I could send them. This 3rd time I got a phone notification that I had 4 Wickr messages but when I opened the app, it just churned in refresh mode. It could see who they were from but it did not even *show* the padlock icon for the messages. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Amp Prime (J3 series). This is last time I will bother with this app. If I have to uninstall again, it will be to try a competitor.
