New version is supposed to fix battery meter, it does not. Battery level still reported low even though GPS unit is fully charged. Also app seems to not like to run in the background. It crashed when I switched into another app or went to OS home screen. I only wanted to use app to determine firmware, so in that respect it did connect to device
Android User and primary use of this device and app is to track myself while hiking in the back country to create and export the tracks. I would not recommend this device or app for the following reasons. 1. Customer service is non-existent. I have contacted them many times over the past 1.6yrs. I have spoken to a "person" but was told that the person I need to speak with was not available and that I would receive a return phone call. I have yet to receive that phone call. 2. The app always crashes when you exit out or close it out. I can not export any of my tracks that I created and have not even been able to view a single track that I have created. I could say more, but ....... until the creators of this app and the designers of the device fix existing issues, I will not recommend this this product to anyone. I was really hoping to find a device that would allow me to create GIS data for my app; HikerBot for long-distance hikers. Batman, of HikerBot LLC
App is terrible. • Unable to share saved tracks. • App crashes on exit. • Unable to locate saved tracks on phone or tablet. • Need option to set track save location. • Battery meter does not function properly.
Clunky UI, doesn't save or share tracks. No firmware update. Crashes.
Not able to download tracks After importing tracks from the GPS to the app, there is no way you can use them. The klm files are no where in the filesystem. There is a share option that doesn't work.
Given the number of complaints both on Amazon, various forums and in Google Play, you would think this company would be bordering on fraud or flat out incompetence. The XGPS app does not function correctly and there is no option to update the firmware, via the app, as stipulated in the online support. Battery indicator always looks like it was completely drained, after charging all day. Hell, the XGPS160 alone has issues. It takes 10-20 minutes on average to lock onto satellites several times a week. Then at least once a day, the GPS is so inaccurate that every reputable navigation software I have tried eventually drifted me onto a completely different street/location altogether or it spinned in a circle like it doesnt know where it is. And this is in Kuwait, out in the open!!! WTF Dual??? Use this in aircraft.... oh hell no!!!!! Dual is better off not making this crap and ripping off customers!!!!!!! And guess what, when I switch back to the internal GPS, it works fine.
