About this app

TBoard School is the school edition of TBoard, the letterboard AAC app, built for school-owned tablets. Everything is included and there is nothing to sign in to.

TBoard School needs a school licence. Schools buy licences for a number of tablets from Muted Labs ([e-mail]). Each tablet activates once with the school's key, which your device management can push automatically, then works without an internet connection.

STUDENT WORK STAYS ON THE TABLET

TBoard School has no sign-in. Profiles, boards, custom lessons, worksheets, answers, teacher marks and progress are stored on the tablet. There are no student accounts, and no student work or records are stored on our servers. Daily lessons and premium voices download from a public content feed that needs no identity. The app has no ads and does not track anyone.

COMMUNICATE

- The 26-letter board, 3-Stencil, QWERTY and number layouts: big, steady keys designed for communicators with apraxia or motor differences.
- Choose how the board responds. On Touch can register a key the moment a finger lands, visual confirmation shows what was accepted, and optional spoken or haptic feedback can reinforce every selection. Tap Guard ignores rapid repeat touches so an accidental double-tap does not type twice.
- Build boards in the Board Builder with icons, labels and your own photos.
- Speak letters, words or completed thoughts aloud. Ten premium voices download once, then work offline.
- Keep important phrases and writing in the Scrapbook.

LEARN AND PRACTICE

- New lessons are published every day in three difficulty tiers (an internet connection downloads them).
- Every answer is checked in real time as it is spelled, and the board can swap and reset for you.
- Build your own worksheets from typed or pasted text, a text file, a PDF or a photo. Text is read on the tablet.
- Graded worksheets save the student's answers for the teacher to mark afterwards, with a per-learner gradebook, attempt history and a printable report. Practice worksheets give feedback and another try.
- Warm up with Practice, and build My Prompts sets from the student's own world.
- Several learners can share one tablet, each with their own profile, boards, lessons, stats and gradebook.

WHAT IS NOT IN THIS EDITION

- No messaging circle and no cloud backup or sync. Use the TBoard file export to move a learner's work to another device.

TBoard School is a communication and educational tool. It is not a medical device or a substitute for professional care or speech therapy.

What’s new

Fixed: in lessons you create, ordinary words written in capitals (like NASA) no longer look like spelling words in the lesson preview. Smaller fixes and polish.
